10-4-2007 Jopen Koyt

  • Alcohol%: 8.5
  • Type: Spiced beer
  • Color: clear and dark amber in color with a head
  • Head: thick subsiding to excellent lacing
  • aroma: very yeasty in some ways similar to a gueze with lots of spices
  • flavor: Tart with hints of green apple, honey sweetness, wheat or grass crispness and freshness, a little spicy and ever so slightly dry.
  • Overall Impressions: This is a fun light and refreshing beer with crisp flavor and a very complex spiciness. This beer is interesting in that little to no hops is used in production, instead an old dutch recipe has been used instead. Perhaps I like it because of my Dutch roots, or maybe it is just good on its own, but I liked it and would readily buy it again.
